James practised in Plymouth from 1995 and joined Southernhay Chambers in 2007. He is well respected on the Western Circuit and is Treasurer of the West Country Family Law Bar Association. He is also a National Committee Member of the Association

James has particular expertise in ancillary relief, often dealing with “big money” cases both in an advisory capacity and in the Courts

James’ practice includes personal injury, boundary and easement disputes, commercial, real property, TOLATA, and landlord and tenant cases
Child Law
James accepts instructions in all aspects of family law involving children. He is regularly instructed by parents, Guardians and Local Authorities in serious cases involving sexual abuse and non-accidental injuries.
Together with other members of Southernhay Chambers he delivers seminars on topics related to his areas of specialisation.
