Areas of Expertise

Prior to joining the Bar Christian worked for a number of years in South Wales as a residential Social Worker with young offenders and their families.  He then worked with care leavers and asylum seekers in a Leaving Care Project in London.

Christian’s areas of practice are:

Family Law

Financial Provision

Christian advises and acts in all areas of ancillary relief, and also in claims brought under Schedule 1 of the Children Act 1989, the Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act 1996 and related enforcement proceedings.

The spectrum of financial cases which Christian undertakes is wide, but he has developed a particular strength in representing clients in cases where there are not substantial assets or where the main issue is the appropriate division of family debts.

He has experience in proceedings involving the Child Support Agency, particularly representing non-resident parents in committal proceedings in the Magistrates’ Courts, and charging order proceedings in the County Courts.

Children

Christian regularly acts in Children Act matters in both public and private law proceedings.  He is instructed by Local Authorities, Guardians, parents and wider family members.

He has particular interest in representing parties in cases involving Local Authorities, including complex private law proceedings where there is social service involvement with the family.

Immigration

Christian is a member of our specialist Immigration and Asylum Team: please see the Immigration Team pages for further information.

Civil Law

Housing:  He acts in the full range of housing matters but has particular interest in homelessness appeals, and has appeared in the Court of Appeal on an appeal under s.204 Housing Act 1996.

Personal Injury:  Acting for both Claimants and Defendants he advises on liability, evidence and quantum.  He has particular experience in advising on personal injury claims arising from road accidents involving children.

Christian is sensitive to the emotional context within which proceedings often take place, and is committed to providing the highest level of client care to those who find themselves involved in the Court process.

He is a member of the Family Law Bar Association.
