Areas of Expertise

Jacqueline specialises in all areas offamily law which involve children or domestic violence. She has a solid practice in both public and private law proceedings and is regularly instructed by Local Authorities, Guardians and family members.

Her practice includes all areas of public law (care, supervision, adoption, secure accommodation) and private law (residence, contact, abduction, removal from jurisdiction) many of which involve serious allegations of sexual abuse, non-accidental injuries, and domestic violence - issues which invariably lead to finding of fact hearings.

Jacqueline has a particularly renowned reputation for dealing with difficult and vulnerable clients, and for instilling confidence in them by dealing with them sensitively and with compassion.

Prior to university Jacqueline lived in Hong Kong working in property. After passing the Bar examinations she spent time in London working for a firm of solicitors, and also with Reuters, undertaking corporate and commercial law.

She joined Southernhay Chambers in 1991 and very quickly developed a practice in family law - her preferred area of specialisation.

Jacqueline trained as a family mediator in 1999 and always utilises those skills within her areas of expertise.

She has lectured to foreign students at Exeter University, and for several years has conducted annual seminars on domestic violence for the Devon & Exeter Law Society.

Jacqueline is a member of the Family Law Bar Association.
