Areas of Practice:
During the period 1989/1998) this largely comprised advice, drafting and representation in a broad mix of civil litigation including planning, landlord and tenant, personal injury, trust and estate administration with a minor proportion of family law.
More recently my practice has concentrated principally on the financial aspects of family law including financial provision for children and dependents and upon divorce, alongside a wide variety of child related public and private law cases.
In relation to cases concerning children, I regularly appear for parents, Guardians and Local Authorities in a wide range of private and public law cases; I am occasionally instructed to appear on behalf of competent children and the Official Solicitor.
In terms of applications for financial provision, I have a long record of advice, drafting and representation in a huge variety of cases, including complex matters and those concerning high asset values.
I have a long standing interest in private and family companies and trusts, and estate planning generally; over recent years a good proportion of my work has involved applications for financial provision, often in relation to wealthy individuals whose assets include shares in private companies and interests under (formal and informal) trust arrangements and, not infrequently farming businesses.
I have recently obtained a STEP Diploma in International Trust Management, sitting examinations in Trust Creation, Trust Accounting and Administration, Company Law, and Investment and Financial Appraisal.
Whilst completing the International STEP Diploma, I have been expanding my knowledge of onshore capital tax treatment, probate and estate planning generally, with a view to providing clients with a comprehensive service.
