Information for the general public

If you are a member of the general public, you cannot instruct a Barrister direct. (This is not permitted under the rules governing the profession). You should first see a Solicitor of your choice. If your Solicitor considers that it is necessary for you to be represented by a Barrister, she/he will make the necessary arrangements to instruct a suitably experienced Barrister on your behalf.
