Christopher has been a member of Southernhay Chambers since 1981. He was appointed joint Head of Chambers in 2005 and sole Head of Chambers in 2011. He has always undertaken a range of civil work but his main area of practice is now family. However he continues to undertake civil work arising out of family disputes.
Trusts of land
Christopher regularly acts in relation to applications under the Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act 1996. He recently appeared in the Court of Appeal in the case of WADE – v – BAYLIS [2010] EWCA Civ 257 (a trusts of land case with aspects covering a number of other areas of law including partnership and division of chattels).
His family experience also enables him to advise on related applications under Schedule 1 Children Act 1989.
Together with other members of Southernhay Chambers, he delivers seminars on applications under the Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act.
Professional negligence
Christopher has a substantial ancillary relief practice and so, combined with his experience of civil litigation, he is well placed to advise on issues of professional negligence arising out of ancillary relief.
Christopher also acts in other civil cases arising out of family disputes.
