    Accidents

    Christian acts for both claimants and defendants in all aspects of personal injury law, including employers' liability, public liability, tripping and slipping claims, highways claims, occupiers’ liability and road traffic cases (including claims for credit hire) and claims arising from harassment.

    Christian has a particular interest in claims involving local authorities, prisons and other public bodies including claims for compensation arising from mistreatment of service users.

    Public Law

    Christian regularly advises on Judicial Review matters acting for both Claimants and Defendants.
    His practice includes disputes over s20 accommodation under the Children Act 1989, duties owed to children in need, leaving care duties, disputes between authorities over duties owed to vulnerable young people and adults and eligibility criteria.

    Christian regularly advises on prison-related judicial reviews including challenges to revocation of licences and recalls to custody and challenges to the Secretary of State and Parole Board. Christian has also advised on the effects of the Vetting and Barring Scheme introduced by the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006

    In addition to prison-related judicial review, Christian also has experience of representing prisoners before the Parole Board.

    Property

    Christian acts in cases involving all aspects of real property including commercial landlord and tenants also disputes as to the beneficial ownership of property and orders for sale. Christian has a particular interest in cases involving family homes and undue influence or misrepresentation.

    Housing

    Christian acts for parties in both private and public sector housing disputes including contentious and non-contentious work.

    Christian also acts in housing related disputes including anti-social behaviour orders and injunctions, unlawful eviction and harassment claims.

    Probate, Wills and Trusts

    Christian advises clients in relation to contentious probate and the Inheritance Act and has conducted seminars on the issue of undue influence in probate.

    Commercial Litigation

    Christian advises parties in contractual disputes including restraint of trade. Christian represents parties in insolvency proceedings including: personal insolvency, bankruptcy petitions, possession and sale applications, corporate insolvency, winding up petitions and administration applications.
